Ernest Gene Long Sr., 88, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Snow’s @ Macon Memorial Park Chapel. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. to service time. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Moon officiating.
Ernest was born in Byron, Georgia to the late Frank and Charlie Mae Long. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Hyatt Long, two children, Gene Long, Alisa Mander, grandson, William Jason Mander, his siblings, Verna Roberson, Mary Berkner, Lucille McCook, Bill Long, Jimmy Long and Emmett Long. Ernest was retired from Armstrong World Industries. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, hot rods, fishing and dancing.
He is survived by his sister, Christine Long Griffin of Macon, lifelong companion Priscilla Claire Sokoloski, daughter, Nancy DeLoach, four grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
