Ernest Carrell Wrye, 88, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Snow’s @ Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. The family will greet friends on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Rodney Delhaye and Nolan Delhaye officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gilead Baptist Church, 4800 Ivey Drive, Macon GA 31206 or American Legion Post 3, 5530 Thomaston Road, Macon GA 31220.
Carrell was born on April 16, 1938, in Chauncey, Georgia to the late Cleaon Wrye and Mae Parker Scarborough. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Joe Wrye and Robert Wrye. Carrell served his country in the United States Army and was member of Gilead Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, and attended Sunday School. He was employed by Yaughn Construction for many years. Carrell was a dedicated Christian who loved his Lord, family and his church.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Sheffield Wrye of Macon, two sons, Eric Wrye (Russell Schnabel) of Lakewood CA, Chad Wrye (Bethany Kent) of Nashville, TN.
