A Life of Love, Service, and Dedication

Etta Jane Banks-Brooks lived a meaningful life filled with love, hard work, compassion, and service to others. Born to Betty Jean Evans and Claude Banks Sr., she grew into a determined and accomplished woman who made a lasting impression on those who knew her.

Etta attended Southeast High School and continued her education at Crandall Junior College, where she earned an associate degree and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She later studied cosmetology at Macon Technical College, allowing her creativity and entrepreneurial spirit to flourish.

Throughout her career, Etta demonstrated leadership and dedication. She worked as a manager at Sam's Wholesale Club, served as an instructor at Micheal's School of Beauty, and devoted 12 years to Atrium Health. One of her proudest achievements was owning and operating Shadow's of Hair for 40 years. Her business became a place where relationships were formed, stories were shared, and clients left feeling confident and renewed.

Etta's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother to Kayanna Banks, Morganna Banks, Tasicianna Jackson and her spouse, Joseph Jackson, and Stanley Brooks. She was a loving grandmother to Hassan Harclerode Jr., Xaylon Banks, Jylo Jackson, and Bre'Zyeh Carlisle, who brought tremendous happiness to her life.

She shared a special bond with her siblings, Claude Banks Jr., Claudette Johnson, Allen Banks, and Arsonjia Foster. Their love, laughter, family traditions, and shared experiences created treasured memories.

Etta will be remembered as a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, healthcare professional, educator, manager, entrepreneur, mentor, and friend. Her life was an example of perseverance, independence, and purpose, and she gave generously of herself in all that she did.

Though her presence will be deeply missed, Etta's beautiful spirit will live on through her family, former students, clients, coworkers, and friends. Her loved ones will forever cherish her memory and celebrate the remarkable woman she was.

Celebration of her life will be held, Thursday September 17, 2026, at 1:00 P.M. In the chapel of Snow's @ Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home, with Chaplain Richard Weires, Sr., officiating.
