Mrs. Dugger was the daughter of the late Ruth Lamar Hamilton Mason and Madison Henry Mason. She was preceded in death by sisters and brothers, Roby Hughes, Roy Mason, Irvine McIntyre, Ruth Powell Lehe, Hamilton Mason, Adelle Dugger and M. H. Mason.
Mrs. Dugger was married to Ferrell B. Dugger, Sr. on August 19, 1934. They lived in Vidalia until their move to Macon in 1939 and resided here except for a short time when they moved to a farm in Monticello, where Ferrell loved tending to his cows, bees, and chickens while Evelyn was planting flowers, cooking and in general, loving life. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary while living at Baptist Village in Waycross. Ferrell passed away on January 3, 1995 at the age of 86.
Mrs. Dugger was active in their church of Lynmore United Methodist Church in the 1940’s and later at Mikado Baptist. She was at one time a member of the Easter Star in Macon. Mrs. Dugger worked as secretary-bookkeeper in their Dugger Plumbing & Heating Company (founded in 1946) for several years in the 1950’s and later in the 60’s ran their two Econo Washes (Laundromats), one in Macon and the other in Warner Robins.
The loves of her life, beside her husband, were her two children, Sylvia Dugger Howell and F. Brooks Dugger, Jr. and his wife, Betty (Smith), never forgetting a daughter between the two, Ferrelyn, living only 3 days and of course, all the grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
The surviving six grandchildren, who knew her as “Gonga”, Glen Howell and wife, Venita, Sidney Howell, Sr., Leigh Ann Howell Bjorling and husband, Jon, Dawn Dugger Peterson and husband, Pat, Dee Dugger Kelly and husband Chris, Dustin Dugger and wife, Lynn. She was preceded in death by one grandson, F. B. (Dug) Dugger, III, who is waiting along with all her loved ones to welcome her home to a brand new wonderful life. She has sixteen great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her family, she had a great love of flowers and my, what a “green thumb” she had. She was happy outdoors with a shovel, hoe or rake in her hand and inside the house, her delight was having some sort of needle and thread in her hand. The last few years was spent with a needle and thread. Embroidering countless pillowcases, crewel pictures of Iris’, Pansies, Poppies, and Butterflies. She also loved making many baby blankets for one of her grand babies.
