My heart goes out to Ms. Evelyn's family and friends who will sorely miss this vibrant, intelligent, humorous woman, who made me and countless others, feel like a million dollars. She was a lovely, graceful, lady, from the old school, exuding love, and all the fruits of the spirit described in Galatians 5:22-23.

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such there is no law."

When we were young, I stayed at her house a lot. She always welcomed me and cooked wholesome, balanced, hot food; doing everything with joy. I never heard her complain. She adored her husband, allowing him to keep a bobcat in Cecile's bedroom, high on the wall, in a cage. You can see Ms. Evelyn and Mr. Roy touching in all the pictures. She and Mr. Roy went to all of Lonnie's games, and bought an RV so they could easily attend his college games.

She had perfect posture, and gave Cecile and the granddaughters her fabulous figure. I see Chris's face in Evelyn's younger pictures, or is that Meryl Streep? She adored her sister Jan, praising all of her qualities, even the ability to stand on her head. I finally got to meet this beloved sister, at Mandy's wedding reception, and she was a joy!

Ms. Evelyn was always industrious, making me a surprise supply of perfectly made Barbie clothes for Christmas when I was 12. I still have several beaded necklaces that she made for me, all reminders of her kindness and love. The thoughtful confirmation gift that she gave me, a plate with a poem on it, said "Make new friends, and keep the old. One is silver and the other gold." Ms. Evelyn is surely GOLD.

Our family has many precious memories of Evelyn. Always enjoyed her singing in the choir but especially working with the children when they were teenagers. She had that special talent of being able to boost morale. She has a special place in our hearts. Steve and May Nelson
