Ferrell Brooks Dugger, Jr. passed away on Friday, September 28, 2018. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 1, at 11 o'clock in the Mausoleum Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Mark Hudgins will officiate. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 4 until 6 o'clock. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital www.stjude.org.
Brooks, son of the late Ferrell Brooks Sr. and Mary Evelyn Mason Dugger, was born in Vidalia, Georgia. He graduated from Lanier High School and was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1958 until 1961. Brooks was a former member and Deacon at Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church, and an active member of Ingleside Baptist Church. He made many friends and was loved by all, especially those in Ingleside's Journey Sunday School Class. Brooks loved his work and serving his community for many years, having taken over his father's business in 1973. He had more than customers, he made a special relationship with those who called on him. His love for God, family, and country led him to be a dedicated son, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Brooks was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Sylvia Howell, and a son, Ferrell Brooks "Doug" Dugger, III.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, his sweetheart, Betty Smith Dugger; daughter, Dawn Dugger (Pat) Peterson; daughter, Dee Dugger Kelly; son, Dustin (Lynn) Dugger; grandchildren, Lauren Covington, Kyle Dugger, Cole Agnew, Lane and Mason Kelly, Ashlyn and Erin Dugger; great grandchildren, Reese and Blakely Covington, Kylar Dugger; 1 niece and 2 nephews; and a great host of extended family and friends.
