

George “Curtis” Hitchcock, 89, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Dublin VA Hospital. A celebration of his life will be held at graveside on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 11 a.m. in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors and the Rev. Joe McDaniel officiating. The family asks that memorials be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P. O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
Mr. Hitchcock was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Norris Hitchcock. He was born in Tennille and served with the U. S. Marine Corps, and was recipient of the Purple Heart was a member of Marine Corp League. Mr. Hitchcock enjoyed many hobbies, including gardening, fishing and bird watching, and was an avid Ham Radio Operator. He was a member of Tattnall Square Baptist Church where he was also a member of the Bailey Mozo Sunday School Class, and served as a deacon and an usher. Mr. Hitchcock was preceded in death by two sisters and by his son, C. Wendell Hitchcock.
Survivors include the family he cherished, his daughter Wanda (Gerald) McGowan, Warner Robins; his grandchildren Gerald (Cresta) McGowan, III of Clarksville, TN, Zachary McGowan, Warner Robins, Kasey McGowan, Atlanta, Brent Hitchcock, Macon, Wendy (Eric) Arnold, Macon and Clint (Pamela) Hitchcock, Cumming, nine great grandchildren, his sister, Betty Baird; brothers, Tommy Hitchcock, Fred Hitchcock, Terry Hitchcock, James Hitchcock and several nieces and nephews.
