George Battie Wood

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George Battie Wood on September 5th, 2026 at Pine Pointe Hospice, as we celebrate the life of a truly remarkable man whose kindness knew no bounds.

Known affectionately to all as "Bubba," he was a gentle soul who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, consistently putting the comfort and happiness of others above his own.

Above all else, his heart belonged to his family. His absolute favorite person in the entire world was his son, Matthew. Their connection went far deeper than a typical father-son dynamic; they were constant companions, sidekicks, and truest best friends. In his final days, Matthew stood by his father's side as his devoted caregiver, walking every step of the journey together with the same deep love, loyalty, and tenderness that his father had given him throughout his life.

His life was also anchored by a deeply cherished bond with his baby sister, Carmine. From the moment she came into the world, he looked out for her with a protective, affectionate heart. No matter how many years passed, Carmine remained his beloved baby sister—a lifelong connection filled with warmth, laughter, and support that extended to her husband, Ronnie, and their family.

Adding to the beauty of his journey was an extraordinary love story. Married young to his first love, Kaye, life eventually brought them back together later in years—a miraculous testament to a bond that came full circle. There was truly nothing like starting his life and ending it with the exact same woman by his side.

Through his union with Kaye, he was blessed to add Kaye's son, Timmy Carmichael, and his son, Evan, to his family—a son and grandson who were treated as his own.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Julian and Elizabeth Wood; his cherished brother, Joel Spearman; and his dear daughter, Nikki Wood.

His legacy of pure selflessness lives on through those he held closest. He is survived by the devoted love of his life, Kaye; his pride and joy, his son, Matthew Wood; his cherished sister, Carmine Wills, and her husband, Ronnie; his sister-in-law, Etta Spearman; his beloved fur baby, Sammy; as well as many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins.

His warmth and unwavering love will never be forgotten.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 @ 11:00 a.m., at Macon Memorial Park, located at 3969 Mercer University Dr., Macon, GA.
