Hardwick M. Battle, 91, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 23, 2013. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Mabel White Baptist Church. The family will meet friends from 1:00 p.m. to service time at the church. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Joe McDaniel officiating. Mr. Battle was born in Allentown, Georgia to the late Francis Marion and Ora Battle. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Beth Battle. He served in the United States Navy and was retired from Robins Air Force Base after thirty five years of service. Mr. Battle was a member of Mable White Baptist Church for sixty years and served as an usher for over fifty years, and was a member of the Faith Bible Sunday School Class and was active with the Senior Citizens. Mr. Battle was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener and Atlanta Braves fan. He was a devoted Christian husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother.
He is survived by his loving wife of seventy one years, Hazel Hobbs Battle, children, Eddie (Colista) Battle of Macon, Joy (Don) Shurley of Tifton, and Jan (Rich) Mannion of Fayettville, grandchildren, Chip (Emily) Battle, Chris (Brenda) Battle, Justin (Brook) Shurley, Matt (Lauren) Shurley, Grant, Mary Elizabeth, Brad, and Katie Rose Mannion, eleven great grandchildren, sister, Grace Harrison of Dublin and several nieces and nephews.
