Harry Roy McGreggor

Harry Roy McGreggor, 72, of Lizella, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. A celebration of his life will held on Friday, August 28, 2026 at Noon @ Lizella Baptist Church. The family will greet friends from 10:30 a.m. to service time at the church. Burial will be at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with the Pastor Pat Chastin and Dr. Will Farrington officiating.

He was born in Trier, Germany, to Eddie Ray and Margarita Prinz McGreggor. Although born in Germany, Harry lived his life in Lizella, Georgia, where he built a life centered around his faith, his family, his work, and his community.

Harry attended Lanier High School and began his career working in sheet metal and HVAC. His dedication and determination eventually led him to become the owner of Hamlin Air Conditioning and Sheet Metal, a company he proudly owned and operated for 40 years. Throughout those years, Harry earned the respect of his employees, customers, and fellow tradesmen. He was not only a successful businessman but a compassionate leader who genuinely cared about the people who worked for him. His reputation for honesty, integrity, fairness, and hard work made him a highly respected member of the community.

Harry's impact extended far beyond his career. He was a devoted volunteer with Western Little League in Lizella, where he coached his own children in softball and baseball and served on the league's board. To so many children, he was more than a coach—he was a mentor, encourager, and someone they could count on. Harry had a special way of making young people feel valued, teaching them lessons that went far beyond the ball field. His commitment to young people and his community also lead him to serve on the board at Windsor Academy, where he helped to make important decisions that helped shape the schools future and contributed to its continued growth and success.

Harry met the love of his life, Brenda, when they were teenagers, and together they shared 52 years of marriage. They built a beautiful family and raised four children. Their home became a place where their children's friends always wanted to gather—a home filled with laughter, love, good memories, and a sense that everyone was welcome. Harry became a father figure and mentor to many of his children's friends, leaving an impression on countless young lives.

While Harry was a devoted husband and father, his greatest joy was undoubtedly his grandchildren. He adored his seven grandchildren and treasured every moment he spent with them. They brought a special happiness to his life, and his love for them was evident in everything he did. His family will forever remember the laughter, stories, guidance, and unconditional love he gave so freely.

Harry's faith was at the heart of who he was. He loved the Lord, faithfully supported his church, and made a meaningful difference in the church community he was part of. His faith was not simply something he spoke about—it was something he lived. He served others, loved generously, and sought to be a reflection of Christ in the lives of those around him.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Ray and Margarita Prinz McGreggor; his beloved daughter, Crystal Dawn McGreggor; his brother, Eddie McGreggor; his sister, Cindy McGreggor Badger; his father-in-law, Elbert Dobson, and sister-in-law Jennifer Dobson.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 52 years, Brenda McGreggor; his sons, Robbie McGreggor (Allyson), Brent McGreggor (Emily), and Larry McGreggor (Kelly); and his grandchildren, Maura Rogers, Gabe McGreggor, Caden McGreggor, Hunter McGreggor, Jackson C. McGreggor, Jackson T. McGreggor, and Jacelyn McGreggor.

He is also survived by his sisters, Lillian Slappey (Winston), and Donna Kelly (Bobby); sister-in-law Tracie McGreggor; brothers-in-law Mike Dobson (Cathy), and Todd Dobson (Rhonda) and his mother in law Virginia Dobson; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, former employees, fellow church members, and countless people whose lives he touched.

Harry leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured simply by the business he built or the years he worked. His true legacy is found in the family he loved, the young people he mentored, the employees he led, the community he served, and the countless lives he influenced through his kindness, faith, and generosity.

In keeping with Harry's life of faith, service and compassion, the family ask in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made in Harry's honor to either Windsor Academy ATTN: Athletic Department 4150 Jones Rd Macon, Ga. 31216 or to the Macon Rescue Mission 6601 Zebulon Rd. Macon, Ga. 31220.

His earthly work is finished, but his faith has carried him home. His family finds comfort in knowing that he is now resting in the arms of the Lord he loved so dearly. “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
