Horace Paul Brooks, 91, was called to be with the Lord on Friday, May 18, 2018, just 40 days after his bride of almost 70 years was called Home. He was a loving Daddy and Pa-Pa. He was a member of Bass United Methodist Church. Through the years he had helped his wife teach MYF and take youth to church camps.
A Celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Bass United Methodist Church with the Reverend Michael Jones and the Reverend Michael Rodgers officiating. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery, Griffin GA. The family asks that any memorial contributions be made to Bass United Methodist Church, 4062 Vineville Ave. Macon, GA 31210.
Paul was born in Griffin, GA to the late Horace P. Brooks, Sr. and Margaret Harper Brooks. He was a salesman at heart beginning his long career at a very young age when he helped his daddy run a laundry route. He continued selling for the Standard Company, The Jewel Tea Company, and The Interstate Life Insurance Company which later changed to American General. He was an avid Square dancer and also danced with Macon’s 1800 Club. Paul helped his daughter and son-in-law sell fudge and candies in the movie town of Juliette, Georgia. He greeted visitors as they waited in line at The Whistle Stop Café. He wore his tuxedo and top hat and was later honored by Governor Zell Miller as The Honorary Mayor of Juliette. He was a true Southern Gentleman!
Survivors include his daughters; Camille B. Watts, and Donna B. Pierce (Tony) Lavey of Macon, granddaughters, Kathleen Pierce Wilder, Susannah Leigh Hayes, and Deanna W. (Scotty) Sutton all of Macon, great grandchildren, Charlie, Aaron, Austin and Sam.
