Hunton L. Morgan, 95, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018. A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, February 11, 2018 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00pm until service time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels, 1212 Gray Hwy #E, Macon, 31211.
Hunton was born in Macon, Georgia to the late James and Burnie Queen Morgan. He served in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII and later, the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Hunton earned the Silver Star by leading an assault platoon up Heartbreak Ridge and also was awarded a Purple Heart in Korea. He was self-employed and was a member of Cross Keys United Methodist Church. Hunton was a Charter Member of the Cross Keys Lion Club and the WWII National Museum, a member of the Macon Touchdown Club, kept the shot clock for Mercer Basketball and refereed high school football for many years.
Survivors include his children, David (Nancy) Morgan and Jane (Mike) Faga; grandchildren, Melissa (Aldo) Pecorilli, Jeremy (Shonna) Faga, Jessica (Michael) Lawson and Cassie Faga; and great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Isabelle, Andrew, Will, Bryce, Kalynn and Keegan.
