Mr. James W. Gray died September 1, 2018 at the Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 5 at 10 o’clock, at Lizella Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Gates and Rev. Chris Minton officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 4, from 6 until 8 o’clock at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be at 3 o’clock in the Brushy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, in Ocilla, Georgia.
Mr. Gray was a native of Ocilla, Georgia, but had lived most of his life in Macon, Georgia. He was a graduate of Ocilla High School and Southern Business University in Atlanta, Georgia. He was retired from Robins Air Force Base after 25 years of service. He was a member of Lizella Baptist Church and Royce Bledsoe Sunday School Class.
Mr. Gray was the son of Mr. R.W. Gray and mother Mattie H. Gray of Ocilla. He served his country during World War II in the United States Army. He was a Supply Sergeant for the 3230nd Engineers Service Battalion, stationed in France.
Mr. Gray and his wife Barbara, of 65 years, lived at Lake Tobesofkee for 28 years. He enjoyed fishing, eating out with friends, and working out in his beautiful yard. He and Barbara were in the process of settling at Baptist Village.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence Gray and Wiley Gray; three sisters, Lois Gray Hamby, Maxie Gray Paulk, and Myrtice Gray Kehl.
Survivors include his wife Barbara J. Gray; two nieces Patricia Fields of Norma Park, Georgia, and Martha Hurst of Sylvester, Georgia.
