James Luther "Jimmy" Stone, 88, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 22, 2021. Graveside services will be held at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 2 o'clock, led by Dr. Charles Michael Blizzard. The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association www.alz.org .
Jimmy was born in Calhoun, Georgia on November 9, 1932. He attended Berry Academy before serving his country in the United States Army and is a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Jimmy settled in Atlanta where he met and married Betty Taylor in 1955. They relocated to Macon, Georgia in 1956 and had 3 children, Buddy, Beth, and Karen. Jimmy retired from the insurance industry, having represented several different companies over the years.
Jimmy was a dedicated Christian and served as a Deacon in Bethesda Baptist Church and later at Porterfield Baptist Church. He loved gospel music and nothing gave him more pleasure and joy than singing in church and at Powersville and the Old Clinton Opry. He was preceded in death by his 2 brothers, Howard and Tom Stone, and 3 sisters, Nina North, Mary Moss, Carol Cameron.
He is survived by his former wife and the mother of his children, Betty Taylor Stone; children, Buddy Stone and his wife Paulina, Beth Evans and her husband Marvin, Karen Pruitt and her husband Jeff; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren.
