Jean R. Haskins, 85, passed away after a lengthy illness with peace on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 surrounded by her family. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Billy Abbey officiating. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. to service time at the funeral home. Jean was born in Dodge County, GA to the late John James and Lillian Mixon Roland. Jean was preceded in death by seven siblings. She attended Twiggs County High School and was the President of Twiggs County High School Class Reunion Committee. Jean was a longtime member of Morningside Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for several years. She worked for Southern Bell for several years and retired to raise her five children and care for her aging parents. Jean later returned to work at Coliseum Hospital as a receptionist until her disability. She was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing southern cooked meals for her family. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, James Aaron Haskins of Macon, daughter, Kathy (Rick) Kiser of Dublin, sons, Jim Allen Haskins of Macon, Wayne (Rinda) Haskins of Twiggs Co., Neal Haskins of Haddock, Jeff Haskins of Twiggs Co., grandchildren, Dustin Melvin, Hanna Kiser, Christina, Danielle, Nicole and April Haskins, great grandchildren, Aiden and Presley Melvin and Jeremy Fincher, brother, Virgil Bryant Roland of Atlanta and several nieces and nephews.
