J. H. “Buddy” Dean, 91, passed into the hands of his Lord and was welcomed by his wife of 72 years who passed away on January 5, 2021 and his son Ronnie, due to pneumonia and a broken heart. A Celebration of His Life will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Reverend Russell Whitehurst officiating. The family will greet friends from Noon until service time at the funeral home. Masks and social distancing will be required. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery.
Buddy was born in Cochran, Georgia to the late John Milton and Elanor O’Neal Dean. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Adkins Dean; son, Ronnie Dean; brothers, J.M. Dean, Joel Dean, Barney Dean and Adrin Dean; and sisters, Ruth Adkins, Mary Dean, Dorothy Francis and Abbyleen Dean. He was retired from Coca Cola as a warehouse manager after thirty eight years of service. Buddy had a passion for singing and playing the piano. He enjoyed both playing and watching the game of golf. He attended the Masters for many years. One of his proudest moments was hearing his grandson, Justin, ask Tiger Woods a question on television during the media press conference after his victory in the 2019 Masters. He was a devout Christian and longtime member of The Church of God and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his grandchildren, Renèe (Alex) Bedgood of Macon, Aaron (Raechel) Dean of Perry, Jason (Tanya) Dean of Cochran; great grandchildren, Justin Dean Baxley, Sydney (Tay) Zellner; great great grandchildren, Jaylen Zellner, Jace Zellner, Anna Claire Dean, and Anderson Dean; sister, Annabell Hartley of Macon; and several nieces and nephews.
