

MACON – John Ralph Bailey, 84, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2011. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 31, 2011 in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Shannon Back and Rev. David Mosley will officiate. The family will meet friends from 5 – 7 p.m., Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the funeral home. While flowers are accepted, memorial contributions may be made to Lizella Baptist Church Building Fund, South Lizella Road, Lizella, GA 31052.
Mr. Bailey, son of the late Jessie William Bailey, Sr. and Carrie Elizabeth McKie Bailey, was born in Hilbern, SC. He served with the U. S. Navy for six years and was retired from Inland Container after thirty seven years of service. Mr. Bailey was a member of Lizella Baptist Church where he was also a member of the A-1 Men’s Sunday School Class, the Joyful Workers Senior Adult Group and served as a Deacon. He was a former member of Bethesda Baptist Church. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite. Mr. Bailey was a wonderful, gentle man who loved his church, his Lord and all people. He truly enjoyed reading and fishing.
Survivors include his devoted wife of sixty years, Florence C. Bailey of Macon and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
