Mr. Franklin was born in Macon, Georgia to the late John Benjamin Franklin and Catherine Maxwell Franklin.
Mark was a 1978 graduate of Tennessee Temple University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. He worked in social services and mental health many years at Parkridge Valley Hospital in Chattanooga. His experiences in mental health included family assistance, teaching job skills to mentally handicapped, counseling, and teaching classes. The patients found him to be a very kind person and a good listener. Many times his patient classes ended with a standing ovation.
He greatly enjoyed sports and won several trophies as a tennis player. Although he worked among University of Tennessee fans, his office was decorated with everything “Georgia Bulldogs”. He also enjoyed the Atlanta Braves baseball team.
Everyone will remember Mark as someone who had funny and affectionate nicknames for his friends and family. He was good at bringing smiles to faces and laughter to everyone who knew him.
