

John Alvin Montgomery, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 08, 2014 after an extended illness. A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at The Trinity Church of the Nazarene. The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Al Soles officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Church of the Nazarene, Building Fund, 4192 Hartley Bridge Road, Macon GA 31216 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 886 Mulberry St., Macon GA 31201.
Mr. Montgomery was born in Chillicothe, Ohio to the late Hiram (Red) and Eva Montgomery. He is preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers. He was retired after a long and distinguished career with the Mead and Rock Tenn Corporations. On April 17, 1954 he married the former Barbara Ruth Salley, the love of his life. Mr. Montgomery faithfully attended Macon Trinity Church of the Nazarene. He was a loving devoted husband, father and grandpa and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara S. Montgomery of Macon, daughter, Toni Pitts (Drexel, deceased), son, Douglas (Elaine) Montgomery, grandchildren, Kyle , Amy, Nancy (Mike), Lori (James) and Brian (Sara) and one great grandson, Seth, two sisters, Jean Rhinehart and Norma White and several nieces and nephews.
