Ken was born in New Haven, CT to the late Ernest Harold and Beatrice Donahue White. He graduated from Lyman Hall High School in Wallingford, CT and served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years. While in the Air Force he was stationed at Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa, Japan and then in 1959 at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, GA. He moved to Macon in 1960 and attended Macon Technical College and Macon State College. He was married to the former Nancy Kathryn Lane for sixty wonderful years. He was a founding member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and was an active member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Men’s Club and a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus. He was Past Member of the Catholic Inter-Parochial School Board, Past Member of the Board for Mother and Child Ministry and Past Member of the Holy Spirit Parish Board. Ken retired from Cox Communications after 21 years. During his time there, he received numerous outstanding sales awards. He enjoyed his involvement in church activities, traveling, his regular card games and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ken loved to travel, especially on cruises with his family. He and Nancy shared their love of cities like Charleston, Savannah, and St. Augustine. The trip to Italy and Alaska were special to them both. He loved dancing, singing and music of all kinds except country. He was a transplanted Yankee but loved both his GA Bulldogs and the New England Patriots. He loved to play cards, watch super bowls and was always ready with a joke. He was a great organizer whether it be cabinets or family games and don’t forget the jelly beans guessing game. Even though he would not usually tell his real age, he was forever 29 or was it 39? Life was never dull when Ken was around. He dearly loved his children and was a great “PaPa” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, to him, his wife; Nancy was always his “Dream Girl”.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Nancy Lane White of Macon, children; Kenneth E. White, Jr. (Theresa) of Macon, Gary B. White (Jennifer) of Lizella, Darrell L. White (Alice) of Macon, Keith E. White (Michelle) of Gray, Wendy E. Hutchens (Todd) of Lakeland, FL, Janet W. Mills of Forsyth, Sandra W. Durrence (Jeff) of Macon, Kathryn W.
