

Mabel Velma Burns Harris, 85, died December 29, 2015. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Forest Hills United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. with the Dr. Baxter Hurley and Dr. Laudis H. “Rick” Lanford officiating. The family will greet friends in the Christian Life Center at the church from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Harris was born in Malvern, OH to the late Berlin and Mabel Velma Cunningham Burns. She was a teacher, retiring from the Emanuel County School System. She was a member of Forest Hills United Methodist Church and was a member of the Grace Bible Class and the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Harris was an accomplished pianist and played for many churches where Frank had served as a minister. She was a graduate of Asbury College and received her Master’s from Columbus State.
She is survived by her husband, Rev. Frank H. Harris, Jr. of Macon; one son, Frank H. “Chip” Harris, III of Columbus; three daughters, Kathy (Scott) Adams of Macon, Becky (Randy) Gay of Camilla, Susannah (Donnie) Allen of Macon; ten grandchildren, Kelsey (Ben) MacMinn, Luke and Bekah Adams, Rachel (Jair) Grant, Will (Nikki) Weirs, Matthew Gay, Andrew (McKenzie) Gay, Jake, Jordan, and Wes Allen; one sister, Coralie (Keith) Lee; numerous nieces and nephews.
