Mark E. Deal

Mark E. Deal, 90, passed away on December 28, 2011 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Bethany Baptist Church, Tennille, GA. Burial will be in Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jarrod Burch and Rev. Brandt Kennedy officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 30, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home and from noon until service time Saturday at Bethany Baptist Church in Tennille, GA.

Mr. Deal was born in Johnson County to the late Walter E. and Bessie Kate Deal. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty nine years, Mabel S. Deal. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, served as Chairman of Deacons for over thirty five years and taught Men’s Sunday School. Mr. Deal served in the United States Army during World War II (North Africa and Italy). He was retired from Robins Air Force Base as a Program Manager and was active in the Macon Chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees where he served as past president. Mr. Deal was involved in many civic organizations: Boy Scout and Explorer Leader at Bloomfield United Methodist Church; Bloomfield Boy’s Club and was a poll manager with Bibb County Board of Elections for twenty years.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He is survived by his son, Dwain (Lorraine) Deal of Martinez, GA; daughter, Elaine Deal of Fayetteville, GA; son, Kenneth (Angela) Deal of Cochran, GA; grandchildren, Marc “Kirk” Deal (Jennifer Kuethe), Jennie (Dan) Beck, Naomi, Zachariah, and Makayla Deal; sister; Catherine Harrison of Snellville, brother; Harold (Adelaide) Deal of Wrightsville, and several nieces and nephews.
