LIZELLA - Martha C. Hamlin, 82, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2011. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Lizella United Methodist Church with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Loran Smith and the Rev. Jimmy Cason will officiate. The family will meet friends from 4 - 6 p.m., Saturday at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Mrs. Hamlin, wife of the late Nat Hamlin, Sr., was born in Butler the daughter of the late Zachariah Timothy Locke and Claudia Beatrice Watson. Living in Lizella most of her life, she was a long time member of Lizella United Methodist Church where she was a member of the J.O.Y. Sunday School Class, Lizella United Methodist Women, the Chair Care Core Ministries and had served as a Sunday School Teacher. Mrs. Hamlin was active in the life of her church and her community. She was a devoted homemaker whose first love was taking care of her family. Mrs. Hamlin was the mother of the late Nat Hamlin, Jr. and sister of the late Roswell Locke.
Survivors include her daughter, Claudia (Earl) Grant of Macon; her grandchildren, Ashlie (Josh) Murtha of Atlanta, Clay (Brittany) Hamlin of Nashville, TN and Amanda (Chris) Bush of Warner Robins; her four great grandchildren, Arleigh Grant, Brianna Bush, Bethany Bush and Brooklyn Bush; daughter-in-law, Judi Hamilin Teston of Brunswick, her sisters, Gloria Daye of Warner Robins and Ruth Kirsey of Butler and many nieces and nephews.
