

Martha “Jo” Almon Maxwell, affectionately known as Grandma (Granny) Jo, passed away at her residence March 3, 2015. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Lanny Earley, Rev. Jimmy Corbitt, and Rev. Paul Dziadul officiating. The family will greet friends on Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.at Macon Memorial Park. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Pruitt Health Hospice, 6060 Lakeside Commons Drive, Macon, GA 31210.
Mrs. Maxwell was born in Carrollton, GA to the late Samuel W. and Margaret Riggs Almon. She was preceded in death by her husband, C. J. “Red” Maxwell and a son, Mike Maxwell. She was a business owner of Mar-Jo and Granny-Jo Day Care. She was a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt.
The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude for the care shown by Keith and Penny Almon, Brooke (Trey) Piper and Mindy Almon.
She is survived by her children and their spouses; Randy and Peggy Maxwell of Elijay, GA, Joey and Deanna Maxwell of McDonough, GA, Marcia and Dean Davidson of Gray, GA, daughter-in-law, Toni Maxwell, sister, Carol Kemp of Carrollton, GA, five grandchildren, Jodi (Mike) Short, Brannon Hufstetler, Keaton Maxwell, Christopher Davidson, Sydney Davidson, three great grandchildren, Carson Short, Cooper Short and Harleigh Hufstetler and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
