Newton H. Bryant

Newton H. Bryant, 90, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2018. A Celebration of his Life will be held at 2:00 PM Monday in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM. Burial will be private in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Mobley Cross will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Midway Baptist Church, 1200 Moseley Road, Macon, GA 31220 or the donor’s favorite charity.

Mr. Bryant was born in Houston County, Georgia the son of the late Sadie Bateman Bryant and Charlie Bryant and was the widower of Mary Jane Yarbrough Bryant. He was retired from Norfolk-Southern Railroad and was past president of the local union. Mr. Bryant was an inactive deacon of Midway Baptist Church.

Mr. Bryant is survived by his daughter, Beverly (James) Hinson of Lizella; sons, Ronald Newton Bryant of Lizella and Michael Bryant of Lizella; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Kathryn McCloud and Betty (Roger) Spires; numerous nieces and nephews.

As an eye surgeon I care for many elderly people. There have been none finer than Mr. Newton Bryant. He always had a smile and a kind word. We loved him and will miss him. He lived a sweet testimony.
