

Oneida Johnston Ainsworth Sims of Lizella, Georgia passed away on Sunday October 5, 2025 in a local hospital surrounded by her loving family. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Snow’s Macon Memorial Park Chapel with Rev. Chris Minton officiating. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the hour of service.
Mrs. Sims was born in Kokomo, Mississippi to the late Estus (Bus) Johnston and Laree Shocklee Johnston. She lived in Mississippi as a young girl and moved to middle Georgia in 1964. She was preceded in death by her husbands Jimmy R. Ainsworth and Donald (Don) E. Sims, Sr. She was also preceded in death by her son, Thomas Wayne Ainsworth, brother, Byron Johnston, and sister, Gwen Gallagher.
Survivors include her children: Brenda Ainsworth Jackson (Steve), Jimmy R. Ainsworth, Jr (Pam), Jonathan Ainsworth Sims (Stephanie) and Sally Sims Hitt (Chad). She is also survived by twelve Grandchildren: Michael Neal Smith, Tammie Smith, Steven Michael Jackson, Jr., Joshua Heath Ainsworth, Justin Cole Ainsworth, Amanda Ainsworth Kellogg, Coty Gorman Turner, Dixiana Rose Sims, Dawson Johnston Sims, Dalton Ainsworth Sims, Ariana Dunn, Peyton Elizabeth Hitt, and Hudson Marcus Hitt. She also leaves behind one sister, Virginia Gaeblein-Sosa and nine Great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Sims earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Mercer University and her Master’s Degree from Georgia State College. She retired from the Department of Defense at Robins Air Force Base in January 2008. She also worked briefly in the banking industry for Bank of America, formally C&S Bank. She was a member of Lizella Baptist Church, Women of the Moose in Griffin, GA and The Red Hat Society in Milledgeville, GA.
She loved her family unconditionally and was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren were the light of their Grandmama’s life, and she spent many happy times with them. She was a nurturer and was always providing care and love to someone. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
