Orrin Hall “O.H.” Carstarphen, Jr., 86, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2013. Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Wammock officiating. The family will greet friends on Thursday, April 4, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Masonic Home of Georgia, 1417 Nottingham Drive, Macon GA 31217 or to Southern Care Hospice, 5233 Riverside Drive, Macon GA 31210.
O.H. was born in Macon, GA to the late Orrin and Mary Carstarphen, Sr. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy K. Carstarphen, three sons, Orrin Carstarphen,III, James A. Carstarphen, Sr., and Jeff Carstarphen. O.H. was a graduate of Lanier High School and Mercer University. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was retired from Robins Air Force Base as a civil engineer. He was of the Methodist faith. O.H. was a Mason for 66 years and secretary of Fort Hawkins #418 Lodge for over 40 years. He enjoyed traveling, meeting people and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children, Danny (Brenda) Carstarphen, Sr. of Macon, Teressa C. (Greg) Schultz of Macon, eight grandchildren, Denise Jackson, Orrin Carstarphen, IV, Jennifer Marsh, Danny Carstarphen, Jr., Justin Carstarphen, James Carstarphen Jr., Christopher Carstarphen and Ciera Schultz, fifteen great-grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank his devoted and nurturing caregiver, Johnnie Mae Brandful and others for their giving care to our Dad.
