Patty Jean “Meme” Wood Floyd, age 88, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, October 22, 2023. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, October 25th at 12:00 p.m. at First Evangelical Church with Rev. Tim Long and Rev. Taylor Carter officiating. The family will greet friends starting at 11:00 a.m. until service time. A private family burial will follow at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery.
Patty was born on March 7, 1935, in Gordon, Georgia to the late John and Stella West Wood and was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Andrew Floyd. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Andrea Grant (Mark) and son, Lamar Floyd (Cindy); grandchildren, Amanda Reed (Philip), Evan Grant, Laurel Grant, John Griffin and Brittany Smith (A.J.); great grandchildren, Mason and Harper Jean Reed.
To know Patty was to love her. Her family was her greatest joy but was shared with her devotion to her FEC church fellowship and the beloved “beauty shop customers” that she served for over 61 years. Patty remained a master cosmetologist and coiffed her last head of hair only two weeks before her passing. Her cooking was nothing short of “divine” and her buttermilk biscuits were beyond compare. Meme’s smile was like pure sunshine and in each day and area of her life, she put others’ needs before her own. And above all else, Patty loved her Jesus; she was a mighty prayer warrior.
