Peggy Jean Chapman passed away on June 4, 2026, at the age of 91. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 9, 2026 in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Rick Parsons will officiate. The family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 AM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Chapman was born in Columbus, Georgia the daughter of the late Lenora Bone Matthews Jones and Hamlet Matthews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman "Bill" Chapman, a son, Bert Chapman, her brother, Jerry Jones and a grandson, Donald Chapman, Jr. Mrs. Chapman was a retired secretary from Armstrong and was a member of Lizella Baptist Church, where she was very active and always sat on the same pew. Everyone called her "Mrs. Peggy". Mrs. Chapman was a dedicated grandmother and loved her family.
Mrs. Chapman is survived by her children, Donald "Don" Chapman (Lillian) and Melanie Barone; grandchildren, Nikki Miller (Mike), Jeff Chapman (Randi), Shawn Cox (Tracie), and Chris Chapman; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Richard Jones (Cathy), Mike Jones (Deborah), Glenn Matthews, and Loretta Lynch.
