Phillip M. Ramsey, 64, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Dziadul officiating. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 from 12:00 - 1:00 PM at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home and there will be a private burial for the family.
Phil was born in Macon, GA to the late William C. Ramsey and Joan Donahoo Ramsey. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Ramsey.
Phil, a graduate of Southwest High School, received his Bachelor of Engineering degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1988. He worked in the 402nd EMXG Airborne Electronics Maintenance Group as a Systems/Reliability and Maintainable Test Engineer. He was a subject matter expert in electrical engineering, support of new technology integration, avionics systems upgrade, modification, and supported testing and repair activities. Phil also provided support in the reverse engineering of obsolete parts, circuit board assemblies, and hybrid microcircuit devices. He supported five 402 EMXG squadrons (Electronic Warfare, Communication/Navigation, Precision Attack/Radar, Fighter Avionics, Gyro and Cable/Printed Circuit Board manufacturing) in all matters related to systems upgrade, modification, and repair.
After retirement, he returned to work as a Senior Systems Engineer with Serco North America, supporting the Air Force GPS programs. In this role he continued to offer his expertise, specializing in Reliability and Safety protocols and other critical acquisition support for high visibility programs within the Positioning, Navigation and Targeting branch, Robins AFB GA.
Phil was a dedicated sports fan, attending countless Braves games with his family. He loved watching football, playing golf, and archery. He was loved dearly and will be missed.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Woods Ramsey, son, Colin Thomas Ramsey, brother Tim (Jennifer), Aunt Omelia Donahoo (Marsha), and several nieces and nephews.
