

Lizella – Randall Eugene “Randy” Hartley broke the shackles of infirmity and went home to his heavenly Father on Saturday June 9, 2012. Funeral services will be held 11 am Tuesday June 12, 2012 in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Phillip Johnson will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Monday June 11, 2012 at the funeral home, and may be contacted at 3171 Oak Valley Dr. Lizella, GA.
Randy was born in Macon to the late James C. Hartley and Mildred Floyd Hartley. Randy lived an exemplary life as a wonderful son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He also lived a life of distinction as a Macon-Bibb County Firefighter, a Paramedic with the Mid Georgia Ambulance Service, and the Medical Center of Central Georgia Ambulance Service. A hard working, energetic, and brave man, Randy was awarded a number of commendations such as the Bibb County Board of Commissioners Proclamation for Heroism, Ol’ Boyd Hero of the Year in 1986, Police and Firemen’s Association Heroes Hall of Fame in 1991, The Fraternal Order of Eagles Firefighter of the Year, Woodmen of the World Lifesaver Commendation, and the MCCG Emergency Medical Technician of the Year in 1995. Randy was stricken with a catastrophic brain injury in 1995 but continued to inspire all those who came in contact with him with his wit and his love for life.
Survivors include his daughter, Heather Danielle Morris (Ben) of California; brothers, Terry Hartley (Mary) of Macon, Jimmy Hartley (Leisa) of Lizella and Mike Hartley (Leigh) of Macon; sister, Cathy Ray (Mike) of Lizella; grandson, Samuel James Morris of California and his former wife, Debbie.
