

Willie Ray Shurling, 83, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Pine Pointe Hospice Facility. Funeral services and his life celebration will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 2, 2013 in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Macon Memorial Park. The Rev. Burton Andrews and the Rev. Heck Davis will officiate. The family will meet friends from 10 a.m. to service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Shurling, son of the late Emory Lee and Ila Mae Hammock Shurling, was born in Soperton. He was a graduate of Dudley Hughes and served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Shurling was in the sheet metal division at Robins Air Force Base retiring after thirty-four years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sandefur Shurling and by his sisters, Ruth Phillips and Runa Gorlesky. Mr. Shurling was a member of Lizella Baptist Church and attended Lone Oak Baptist, Eatonton. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing. The first love of his life was his family.
He will be missed by those who loved him most, his wife of more than seven years, Lona L. Shurling of Eatonton; his children Debra Pruitt (Bobby) of Cochran, Lisa Hamrick (Jerry) of Lizella, Gail Brasill (Robert) and Jean Frazier (Phillip) all of Eatonton; his grandchildren, Allison Pruitt, Damien Hamrick (Stacey), Chris Hamrick (Kacie), Niki Hardie (Joel), Mandy Hay-Brasill, and Donna Herring; his great grandchildren Isabel Hardie, Keelan Herring, Cameron Hamrick, Evan Hamrick, Jack Hamrick, Skyler Hamrick and Hayze Hamrick; several nieces and nephews.
