Born in Macon, Alfred was the son of the late Louise Stallings Cummings and Charles Clarence Cummings, Sr. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan Lee Cummings, and two brothers, Charles Cummings and Haywood Cummings. Alfred retired as a maintenance mechanic from the Keebler Company after 40 years and was a United States Army veteran, having served during the Korean War.
Over the years Alfred was an active participant in many sports and enjoyed woodworking in his shop. He crafted many wooden treasures for his bride, including jewelry and Christmas ornaments.
He loved nothing better than being surrounded by family.
Alfred faithfully served at Pine Forest Baptist Church throughout his life, becoming a Deacon and, later, Deacon Emeritus. He was also a longtime member of the Hudson Tabor Sunday school class.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Mattie Baker Cummings; children, Raymond Garry Cummings (Julie) and Terry Lee Cummings; grandchildren, Rachel Cummings Sheffield (Philip) and Tyler Heath Cummings (Katie); great-grandson, Oliver Ryan Cummings; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
