

Roger Lawson Blount, Jr. 94, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born on September 26, 1931. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Snow’s @ Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor L. R. Brock officiating. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Benevolent Committee, (Ramp Ministry) 4013 GA – 358, Danville GA 31017.
Roger was born in Sandersville, Georgia to the late Roger Lawson Blount, Sr. and Hattie Frances Johnson Blount but was raised in Thomaston, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Dolena Gracie Blount, daughter, Patricia “Cissy” Blount, sons, Tony Blount, Nick (Angela) Blount, Maurice “Reecie” Blount, and seven siblings. Roger served his country in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954 and was retired from Robins Air Force Base Logistics. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Roger enjoyed gardening, growing vegetables, sharing them with friends and family. He also loved nature, camping and traveling to his beloved country Canada, where he found his lifelong love Marie. He was a generous man that was willing to help the less fortunate people in life. Roger was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle and lifelong friend to Rudy, Wendell and Davis. The Tim “Wynne” family has always had a special place in his heart as well. Roger had the privilege to be served by Enhabit Home Hospice Nurses, CNAs and Pastor Mo.
He is survived by daughter, Kelly Blount Wynne and son, David Blount, grandchildren, Matthew Lawson (Teagan) Wynne, Dennis (Amanda) Blount, Rebecca (Nathan) Ruddick, Katie (Tyler) Johnson, great grandchildren, Amden Blount, Madison Wynne, Avi Leigh Blount, Rylee Johnson, Zoey Johnson, Daphne Ruddick, Jack Ruddick. His remaining siblings, Dorothy (late Alfred) Shepard, Sammy (Voncille) Blount and Brenda (Pastor L.R.) Brock, numerous nieces and nephews and many Canadian nieces and nephews as well.
