Rufus E. “Gene” McPherson, Jr., 79, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Noon in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Lee Shepard officiating. The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Gene was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Rufus Eugene McPherson, Sr. and Thelma Mixon McPherson. He was retired from Boilermakers Union Local 26. Gene was a member of the Baptist faith and enjoyed fishing, hunting and all sports. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara “Jackie” McPherson of Macon, son, Mike “Butch” (Vickie) McPherson, two granddaughters, Morgan McPherson of Atlanta and Ashley Kate McPherson of Atlanta, sister, Paula (Bill) Raffield of Macon, three nieces, Melissa, Jennifer and Rebecca.
