

Sara Temples Barfield, 93, of Macon, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, December 26, 2025. Born in Emmanuel County, Georgia, to the late Dent Rountree and Gertrude Durden Temples, she was the youngest of 13 children. Sara lived a life defined by hard work, faith, and the love she gave to her family.
Sara was preceded in death by her husband of almost seventy years, Thomas Earl Barfield, and her twelve siblings. After high school graduation she moved to Macon to attend business school and then worked at Bibb Manufacturing in the bookkeeping department. She met her husband and got married in 1955. Sara was the dedicated co-owner of Barfield Pest Control. After retirement, she and Thomas enjoyed traveling throughout the US and Europe. She spent countless hours in the kitchen preparing home cooked meals and canning and freezing vegetables grown in their garden. She was a member of Grace Primitive Baptist Church.
A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she cherished her family above all else.
She is survived; her children, Susan (Steve) Register of Newnan, Carol (Dan) Garrett of Newnan and Thomas “Tommy” (Robin) Barfield, of Macon; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Danny) Whidby, Leslie (Bo) Davis, Tyler (AshLee) Register, Danielle Garrett, Campbell Garrett, and Thomas Barfield; and her six great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Snow’s @ Macon Memorial Park, with the Pastor Dan Garrett and Elder Garry Hall and Elder Dan Bryant officiating. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southwest Christian Care, 7225 Lester Road, Union City, GA 30291 and designated to Hospice Care.
