

Mrs. Sara Rogers, 91, died on Tuesday, July 15, 2014. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 19, at 11 o’clock in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be private. The Rev. Len Strozier will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5 until 7 o’clock. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to New Heights Baptist Church, 158 Lamar Road, Macon, GA 31220.
Sara Adele Lucas Rogers is the widow of Ronald Pierce Rogers, and daughter of the late Sara and C. D. Lucas. She was born in Taylor County, Crowell Community. Mrs. Rogers graduated from Reynolds High School and the Georgia Area Business College. She retired from the Bibb County Board of Education. Mrs. Rogers was an active member of the former Cherokee Heights Baptist Church for over 50 years, where she taught Sunday School, served as church clerk, and a leader in Women in Missions. She and her husband were charter members of New Heights Baptist Church. She dearly loved her husband of over 50 years, Ronald, who died June, 2005. Mrs. Rogers was also preceded in death by her brothers, C. D. Lucas and his wife Carolyn, and C. Mack Lucas and his wife Dot.
Mrs. Rogers was a devoted mother who leaves with love her son, Ron (Lee) Rogers; daughter, Ann Crawford; granddaughters, Haley (Chris) Young, and Hope Rogers; sister, Peggy Lucas; brother in law, J. D. Rogers; several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to her caregivers, Pauline Adams, Virginia Adams, Jade Gibson, and Chastity Middleton.
