Shirley Davis Jackson

Shirley Jean Davis Jackson, 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 6, 2024. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Noon at Lawrence Drive Baptist Church with Pastor Phil Skelton and Dr. Brad Marchman officiating. The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. to service time at the church. Burial will be private for the family at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Lawrence Drive Baptist Church, 5774 School Road, Macon Georgia 31216.

Shirley was born in Swainsboro, Georgia to the late Ellie Ray Davis, Sr. and Minnie Belle Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles N. Jackson, daughter, Charlotte Jackson Byrd, brothers, Herbert Davis, Ellie Ray Davis, Jr. and Jimmy Davis. Shirley was a devoted member of Lawrence Drive Baptist Church, Ruth’s Bible Class, and she served on various committees at the church, Personnel Committee, Finance Committee and Treasurer. She was in banking for fifty years, where she started at Georgia Bank, was a founding member of Central Bank, and Security Bank and retired from State Bank as Senior Vice President. She loved God and her church and being with her family. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt.

She is survived by her children, Sheila Jackson Perkins of Macon, Charles R. (Melinda) Jackson of Macon, grandchildren, Jason C. Lanier, Justin S. Lanier, Ryan C. (Lauren) Byrd, Crystal (Blake) Whitaker, Jenna (Hunter) Walton, Kendell Jackson, great grandchildren, Alexis, Lane, Micah, Brooklynn, Kaisley, Braxton, Blakely, Waylon, Charlotte and one due in January, and several nieces and nephews.
