

MACON – Melvin Stanley (Stan) Puckett, 64, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2011 at a local hospital. A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, November 9th in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Honeycutt officiating. Burial will be private. The family will meet friends from 2 p.m. to service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Puckett, son of the late Melvin H. and May Smith Puckett, was born in Milledgeville. He was a graduate of Georgia Southern University earning degrees in History and Criminal Justice from Breneau University. He also earned the Certified Public Management Designation from the University of Georgia. Mr. Puckett retired from the State Probation Office in Macon and was one of the first appointed Intensive Probation Officers in the State of Georgia. He was preceded in death by his son Christopher Stan Puckett.
He is survived by his family whom he adored, his wife of thirty-eight years, Susan H. Puckett of Macon; his daughter-in-law, Amy Puckett; his aunt, Kittie Allen of Milledgeville; his brothers and sisters, Debbie (Fred) Pennington, Jennie (Steve) Lyle, Lany (Shella) Puckett, Eve Puckett, Chuck (Kay) Puckett, and close family members, Marc Childs, Tanzel (Jimmy) Rousey, Jim(Donna) Honeycutt and David (Christa) Honeycutt, Betty Jones and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
