Stephen “Steve” Whitfield Sanders, 67, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Parker Cemetery with the Rev. Jeremy Singletary officiating. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gateway Fellowship Church, 6531 Skipper Road, Macon GA 31216.
Steve was born in Macon, Georgia to the late William W. Sanders and Kathryn Brown Sanders Wehunt. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, H. Erwin and Louise Brown, E.W. and Mae Sanders and his sister, Wanda Sanders. He was a graduate of Willingham High School class of 1973. He was a member of the Baptist faith and was retired from Macon Doors and Hardware. Steve was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed gardening and cooking and most of all he could fix almost anything.
He is survived by his mother, Kathryn Brown Sanders Wehunt of Macon, sons, Spencer Sanders of Bonaire and Stuart Sanders of Macon, aunt, Georgia Brown of Marietta, uncles, Robert E. Brown of Milledgeville, and Frank Brown of Centerville.
