

Tamara Smith Barfield, 70 of Lizella Georgia, passed away on February 3, 2025. The family will greet friends from 5:00pm - 7:00pm, Thursday, at Snow's at Macon Memorial Park. A celebration of her life will be held 2:00pm, Friday, February 7, 2025, in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. John Rager officiating. Interment will be at a later date at the Georgia Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville.
Tamara was born on July 17, 1954, in Bloomington, Indiana to parents John Smith and Alice Spencer Smith. She pursued a career in yearbook production at Taylor publishing and with her degrees from Georgia College and State University and her Masters degree from Mercer, Tamara spent over twenty-five years teaching between Appling, Alexander II, Tatnall, Upson Lee, Miller Magnet School and Rutland High Schools. She spent most of those years teaching Art and Yearbook. Tamara was a former member of Tabernacle Baptist Church as well as Lizella Baptist Church. She was a current member of Ingleside Baptist Church, proof of her faith could always be found in her artwork as even her Bible was filled with her designs. She enjoyed traveling Europe, visiting museums, mentoring her students and spending time at the beach and mountains with her fellow “Hellens”.
She is survived by her husband: Dewayne Barfield; sons: Zachary Barfield and John Wilson Barfield; grandson: August Barfield; brothers: Ted Smith and his wife Jonie and Mill Smith and his wife Dawn.
