Thomas Jackson “Jack” Raye, 88, passed away September 23, 2014 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at Riverside United Methodist Church on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Alan Benson officiating. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time. The burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
Jack was born in Cordele, Georgia to the late George and Mattie Sue Raye. He was the owner of a home furnishing store and served in the Army during WWII. Jack was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church where he served as an adult Sunday school teacher for many years.
Jack and his wife Muriel were co-founders of the Georgia Round Dance Teachers Association. Together they taught Round and Ballroom dance for over 45 years and wrote many National Classic Dances that were taught around the world.
Jack is predeceased by his wife, Muriel and daughter, Deborah. Survivors include his son, Tommy; two grandchildren, Jackie and Hunter; sister, Betty; and brothers, Bob and George.
