

LIZELLA - Tommy Sirres Barrs, 77, passed away Thursday morning at his residence. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. David Moseley and the Rev. Perry Porter will officiate. The family will meet friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M., Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Barrs, son of the late Cleo and Minnie Mixon Barrs, was born in Atlanta and had lived in Lizella most of his life. He served with the U. S. Navy for four years during the Korean Conflict and was a crew leader retired from Armstrong World Industries after thirty-seven years. For fifty years, Mr. Barrs was a member of Lizella Baptist Church where he taught in the Sunday School and was an ordained deacon since 1965. He loved his church family and the ministry of his church. Mr. Barrs was an avid fisherman who was most at home on the water.
Mr. Barrs was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be sorely missed by his wife of fifty-seven years, Myrtle M. Barrs of Lizella; his sons, James (Marilyn) Barrs of California and George (Donna) Barrs of Lizella; his daughter, Brenda (Bill) Herndon of Princeton, WV; his grandchildren, Aurelia Barrs Starkey of Elk Grove, CA, Aaron Barrs of Winston Salem, NC, D'Ree Ridley of Macon and Annabelle Herndon of Princeton, WV; three great grandchildren and numerous cousins.
