Velva “Shirley” Peek, 90, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2017. A Celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.
Mrs. Peek was born in Walkers Chapel, AL to the late Clarence and Nancy Wooten Evatt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl H. Peek, siblings, Willowdeen Jones, Clell Evatt, Jim Evatt, and Cecil Evatt. Shirley was a member of Wesleyan Drive Baptist Church and was an avid gardener.
She is survived by her son, Charles (Maggie) Peek of Macon, Sheila Peek Kendrick of Macon, three grandchildren, Amanda Lynn Kendrick of Rapid City, SD, Holly Kendrick of Rapid City, SD and Stephen (Mandi) Peek of Johns Creek, two great grandchildren, Lillie and Bennett Peek of Johns Creek, siblings, Lona Carmichael, Clakey Evatt, Rose Parker, Betty Faye Evatt, Wayne Evatt and several nieces and nephews.
