

MACON - Vera Perry Rachels Mann, 91, passed away Monday, April 11, 2011 at a local nursing care facility. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 15, 2011 in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Larry Partain, Rev. Jason Rachels and Darrell Morris officiating. The family will meet friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, the American Cancer Society or the church of their choice.
Mrs. Mann, wife of the late Richard A. Mann, was born in Swainsboro the daughter of the late Romanus Abner Perry and Nita L. Lamb Perry. Living in Macon most of her life, she was a Claims Processor retired from the State Department Veterans Services. Mrs. Mann was a member of Houston Heights Baptist Church and was formerly a member of Houston Heights Garden Club. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star Worthy Matron Fort Hawkins Chapter, a member and past president of the American Business Women’s Association and was a volunteer with the Macon Baptist Association. Mrs. Mann was preceded in death by her brothers, N. J. Perry, Lamar Perry and Felton Perry, by her sister-in-law, Nelda Perry and her brothers-in-law, James Clark and John Beasley and great granddaughter, Ansley Cone.
She is survived by the family she adored, her son, William M. (Jan) Rachels of Byron; her daughter, Jene Rachels (Phil) Morris of McDonough; her grandchildren, Kim (Todd) Merritt of Macon, Karen (Kevin) Cone of Canton, Jason (Jennifer) Rachels of Margate, FL, Darrell (Celeste) Morris of Gainesville and Darlene (Steve) Fair of Baton Rouge, LA; her great grandchildren, Rachel Merritt, Mallory Merritt, Jenna Merritt, Taylor Cone, Caleb Cone, Levi Cone, Willow Rachels, Maya Rachels, Bailey Morris, Perry Morris, Trevor Millsaps-Fair, Noah Fair, Clayton Fair, Blake Fair; her sisters and brother, Geneva Clark, Jottie Perry, Juanita (Jack) Clark, Richard (Betty) Perry, Eunice Beasley, Rosyln (Lamar) Odum; her sister-in-law, Marie Perry Hill and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
