Rev. Walter Stephen Kitchens

Rev. Walter Stephen Kitchens, 88, passed away, Saturday, November 11, 2023, at a local hospice facility. The family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00pm, Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Snow's at Macon Memorial Park in Macon. A second visitation will be observed from 12:00pm to -1:00pm, Thursday, November 16, 2023. Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Randy Kitchens and Rev. Grady Mimbs officiating. Interment will be at Macon Memorial Park following services.

Rev. Kitchens was born November 26, 1934, in Tennille, Georgia to the late Walter Anson Kitchens and Annie Myrtle Hooks Kitchens. He was a member of Northridge Baptist Church. Rev. Kitchens was a retired finance manager with over fifty years of service, however, his passion and calling was to serve as a bi-vocational pastor to multiple middle Georgia area Baptist churches with over sixty years of ministry. Rev. Kitchens was preceded in death by two brothers: Milton Kitchens and Aaron Kitchens and by three sisters: Nancy NeSmith Knight, Ethel Humphries and Louise Scott.

Rev. Kitchens is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years: Betty NeSmith Kitchens; sons: Stephen Kenneth Kitchens and Randall Eric Kitchens (Sherri); grandchildren: Darryl Kitchens (Kimberly), Matthew Kitchens (Patti), Danielle Kitchens Winters (Brent), Ryan Kitchens (Danielle) and Kara Kitchens Clarke (Desmond); thirteen great-grandchildren; sister: Jane Kitchens Griffin (Ronald); brother-in-law: Butch Knight; sister-in-law: Janie Kitchens; and by several nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Georgia Baptist Children's Home, 9420 Blackshear Highway, SE, Baxley, Georgia 31513 or to the donor's charity of choice.
