W.H. "Bud" Stuckey

W.H. “Bud” Stuckey, 92, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2013. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Duke officiating. The family will meet friends from 1:00 p.m. to service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Methodist Home for Children and Youth, 304 Pierce Ave., Macon GA 31204.

Mr. Stuckey was born in Blackshear, Georgia to the late Henry and Maggie Stuckey. He served in the United States Marine Corp. and was a veteran of Gaudalcanal and Okinawa. Mr. Stuckey was retired from Robins Air Force Base and was a former member of Southside United Methodist Church and a member of Vineville United Methodist Church. He enjoyed being a contributor to View Point in the Macon Telegraph and was a lifelong learner and enjoyed gardening.

He is survived by his daughter, Ellen Van Dijk of Macon, son, Jim (Vickie) Stuckey of Byron, grandchildren, Ashley Lanier of Macon, Sheryl De Pree of Decatur, Holly Stuckey of Norcross, Laurie S. Luth of Alpharetta, Ryan Van Dijk of Montery, CA and Nathan Van Dijk of Bakersfield, CA, seven great grandchildren, two sisters, Bernice Lewis of Waycross, Julia Tidwell of Brooklyn, NY and brother, Tracy Stuckey of Cadwell, and several nieces and nephews.

I was Mr. Stuckey's mailman for 2 years over 25 years ago. I remember talking to him about his garden and him planting his corn so early in the year. He was a nice man and I know his family will miss him greatly.

Ellen and Jim. Just this minute i saw the notice of your Dad's passing. i don't get the macon paper but was looking through my mother-in-law's paper. i am so sorry i didn't make the celebration of your dad's life. i certainly loved him and felt like he was my friend as well as another father to me on Hillridge Dr. i will try to contact y'all and share some memories. sorry about mr stuckey he is with Jesus now like my mom is.I met bud when he walked by my house we got to be good friends he helped me get a place to stay at the vineville towers he will be well missed henry walsh

Our condolences to Mr. Bud's family and friends. We have known him since 1976 and have many precious memories. He was a fine, sincere person who always took time for others. God bless each of you in your time of sorrow.

Papa, Thank you for inspiring my who life growing up and setting the bar on what a man can achieve. Thank you for always Suggesting the next step but leaving it open for room to grow. Most important, thank you for providing me with such a caring Mother that has raised me till this point (give or take a year heh). I love my family and I want to say hi to my Uncle Jim, Aunt Vicki and all my cousins following because you never know where we will end up next, I wish only Valhalla for Papa and I hope he is chilling on a vacation island, made with clouds , with grandma. I love all you guys and can't make it but I will make some phone calls. I think we should play siting on the dock my the bay, just my recommendation for the funeral. -Nathan
