Macon – William Luther Lyles, 79, went to be with the Lord on November 14, 2010. He was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. He also had a great love for music and enjoyed playing the guitar, piano and singing. He was a wonderful husband, proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed both work and play. As a skilled carpenter, he enjoyed creating and building gifts that his family cherishes. Billy enjoyed his long-time friendships from his job at Armstrong World Ind., where he retired after working 37 years.
He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Merle Hinson Lyles, son, Reverend Danny Lyles (Anne), daughter Vicki Cavender (Bill), son, Reverend Glenn Lyles (Billie Sue), daughter, Sharon Dillard (Marvin) and his sisters, Matile Kitchens (Wilbur) and Betty Pipkin (Milton), 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a precious grandson, Landon Dillard.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m.Tuesday, immediately preceding the service at 11 a.m Tuesday. at the First Evangelical Church with interment at Macon Memorial Park.
