

Wynelle Mimbs Smith, 76, passed away from an extended illness on December 8, 2014. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. in Minter Baptist Church Cemetery, Minter, GA with the Rev. Keith Smith, the Rev. Randall Mimbs and the Rev. David Smith officiating. The family will greet friends on Thursday, December 11, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Her children praise the fact that Wynelle was always a faithful and devoted wife and an outstanding mother, grandmother, and great grandmother whose love for her family has always been a tremendous encouragement. (Proverbs 31:25 - 31)
She has been a resident at the Life Care Center of Copper Basin, Ducktown, TN for the past 2 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Clyde Mimbs. After the passing of her husband, Claude Leon Smith, in Dublin, GA in 1989, she moved back to Macon. She retired from Macon Medical Center as a communications operator in 2009. Wynelle had been involved with serving the Lord Jesus as a Christian singer for many years. She had been affiliated with Foursquare Gospel Church in Macon, Minter Baptist Church in Minter, GA, Bloomfield Gardens Baptist Church in Macon, GA and Mine City Baptist Church in Ducktown, TN. She was involved as a Sunday School teacher as well as being involved in several choirs in these Church families. She sang in a Gospel trio for many years with Leonard and Willene Stewart and Worth Clifton, all from Macon, GA.
Her love for the Lord Jesus and Gospel music has been admired by many for years. The family wants to extend great thanks for all the love and prayers offered by numerous friends and family.
She is survived by her children, Rev. Keith (Ava) Smith of Ducktown, TN, daughter, Laurie Smith Scott of Eatonton, GA, four grandchildren, Lee Ann Morris Johnstone of Westport, Ireland, Andy Smith of Seattle, WA, Stephanie Silvani of Ducktown, TN, and David Smith of Chattanooga, TN, six great grandchildren and brother, Randall Mimbs of Macon, GA and sister, Ouida Whitfield of Macon, GA and numerous nieces and nephews.
