Bruce was born in Hackensack and grew up in Middletown, later meeting Judy, his loving wife of 58 years. After traveling together while Bruce was in the Army, they bought their first home in Barnegat where they raised two daughters. They later settled in Little Egg Harbor where they resided for 29 years.
Bruce was one of a kind. He had an unforgettable sense of humor and a gift for making people laugh and feel welcome. His humor could brighten any room and his warm heart left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation and without expecting anything in return. His generosity, kindness and genuine love for others were simply part of who he was.
Bruce enjoyed motorcycles, cars, and especially camping with family and friends.
He was predeceased by his father, Bruce Phillips and his mother and stepfather Clare and Jack Kennedy, and his sister Norma.
He leaves behind a family and countless friends who will miss him more than words can express. While we wish we had more time with him, we find comfort in knowing that his love, laughter, generosity and unforgettable spirit will live on in all of us.
Bruce is survived by his wife Judy of 58 years, his daughter Kristin (Mike) Kelly, daughter Laurie (Kevin) Kearney, grandchildren Mike, Chris, Joe, Rachel and Kevin, brother Michael Phillips and wife Sue, brother Tommy Phillips, sister Patty Colson and husband Dan, many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly, and a great grandchild expected in April.
A special thank you to the wonderful staff on Brennan 6 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, who all went above and beyond making a great impact on both Bruce and his family.
